A/Prof Kotwal is a nephrologist at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney; and Program Head of the Renal and Metabolic Division at The George Institute for Global Health. She is passionate about innovative clinical trials and increasing clinical trial access for patients with kidney disease.

She has led trials to completion and has expertise in translating research into clinical practice and in-depth knowledge of statistical techniques, epidemiology and clinical trial design. She is currently leading the CAPTIVATE trial which is a platform trial testing combination therapy in people with CKD. She is also on the steering committee for several investigator and industry sponsored trials.
